Red and Khaki no more

February 3rd, 2007 by asnxpunk

Been keeping this on a down low this past month but I’ve been trying to get a teller position at Bank of America.  Had interview with the recruitor two weeks ago and an interview with the manager this past Wed.  Just yesterday (could’ve been Thursday but forgot to check my messages on my phone) I was offered the position and I took it!  The position offers $12 an hour but only 15 hours a week.  It’s pretty good for me since it gives more time to study and easier time to go out at night.  The downside is I’m going to lose a hundred or so dollars a month compared to my paycheck at Target especially with the annual raise coming up either March, April, or May which might increase to about almost $10 an hour (I’m currently getting almost $9 an hour).  But I don’t care because I’m trying something new and I can’t move up at Target because of my school schedule.  So I don’t want to do the same thing again till I graduate.  I rather do something different and probably a little more flexible for the next two years.

Anway, after school, I went to Target to pick up my paycheck and turned in my two weeks.  My last day will be the 15th and I will begin trainng at BofA on the 16th.  The funniest thing is my last day is two days before my 2nd year anniversary at Target hehe.

A co-worker of mine that I started out with at the same time wondered would be the last one at Target.  I mean, with all the positions combined when we first started there was about close to 20 people.  Before our first year, we were the last two.  Now we know who is the last one.

My co-worker and I were offered promotions left and right before our first year and so far, he’s the only one that went up after our first year but that’s because he had the time flexibility for it since he was not going to school.  But now, he’s thinking about going to school because he wants a degree in business management like me.  But he can’t because he needs the money to pay bills and he doesn’t know if he has time to do both.  Maybe in a few years or so he will and he’ll become an Executive Team Leader (manager).  Hell, maybe when I graduate I might be one too!

What a Barf-day!

Damn, what a 21st birthday….a day when I’m suppose to get drink as much as I can….but no, I ended up nursing my food poisoning!!!  Yea, food poisoning on my 21st birthday.  No doubt I’m gonna remember this.  I was barely able to enjoy the cup of scotch with my cousin, Dave, and the second cup from Jane’s present, two bottles of Crown Royale.  *sighs*  Another time…….

Stepping on a pyramid

June 22nd, 2006 by asnxpunk

Long time…….

What a waste of my day………………

Ok, so I got a call
from a guy I met at Target who was into international marketing.  From
the looks of his card (it was those free business cards from
VistaPrint.com, I know, that’s where mines are from LOL!) I immediately knew the business was fishy esp when the
website required a password to enter.  So we met up at his place and
talked about what he did (btw, he house was HUGE, his kitchen looks
almost as big as my living room!  And he runs a small preschool too).
Turns out, he mainly refers people to businesses and makes money off
it.  How?  Don’t really know how but my first instincts about his
business was true: it was a pyramid scheme.  For those who doesn’t know
what it is, it’s where Guy A makes money and Guy B makes money off of
money Guy A makes and Guy C makes money off of money Guy B makes off of
what Guy A makes and so forth.  However, he states it is not because
the piece of money he gets if I make any money comes from the companies
that endorses him.

I could’ve ended the convo right then and
there but I did not really want to be rude and really wanted to hear
his bullshitting pitch.  I already went through this kind of crap
*cough* Vartech *cough* Communications *cough*  I must say he was a
very persistent guy though.  However, he was pretty smart too (unlike
the Vartech guy).  We talked for about an hour and near the end talked
about the upcoming convention next weekend.  He wanted me to attend a
convention in Palm Springs before I think
about signing up.  However, the ticket costs $155 but $100 of it can be
written off on the tax sheet or something like that.  In my own way of
saying no, I made up excuses because, like I said, he was a very
persistent guy.  He probably knew he’d lose me when I said no to the
ticket because he kept mentioning those tickets sell fast *cough*
BULLSHIT! *cough* Instead, made an appointment with me tomorrow at
2pm.  So, I’m getting out of it with an excuse.

One
thing for sure made me realize he wasn’t THAT bright was he did not
know what a CD (Certificate of Deposit) was.  I mean, he was going on
and on about saving money so he should’ve known.  And he quit teaching
because the money was not good.  If he taught because of money, then
why be a teacher?!  Everyone knows teachers are underpaid!

I
saved a souvenir but my dad threw it away.  It was the XS Energy
Drink.  Never heard of it but it was one of the companies that he
promotes for.  Drink was ok until I did more research about it.  Turns
out, they use ALOT of artificial sweetners.

All in all, I
learned my lesson: never be too polite and trust the gut, wait, sratch
that, that’s what Bush does……..I know!  Trust the mind.

Wow, haven’t updated this in a while.

School sucks and work is tiring.  Got one more semester before I can transfer to SFSU.  God, gonna begin my 4th year at City next semester.  God…………

Gonna apply for Bank of America near the end of finals…maybe Citibank too.  Getting a job at the bank well put my social life back together.  Hardly able to go out with family and friends when working at Target since my position is closing AND I work 5 days a week.  At least working at the bank, I’ll feel like going somewhere and with better pay.  And with this, I’ll be out of work by 7pm the latest and still make it to special dinner occassions.

Life may be cruel at times but it’s how you make of it determines how bad it can get.

RAAAAAISE!!!…the iPod

February 22nd, 2006 by asnxpunk

Well, I just my one year review at Target and I did too damn good cuz I got a $0.93 raise!  Now I’m getting paid almost $9 an hour!  Too sweet of a pay for a job outside of SF!  I prolly would’ve gotten more if I didn’t call off several times and took the side promotion that was offered when my 90 day probation period was off.  What I meant by side promotion is it’s another position but same pay.  However, I gain more development skills in understanding how the store works.  I didn’t take it cuz it I would work almost 7-8 hours on Saturdays….every Saturday!  I’m can hardly handle close to 25 hours a week, why make it close to 30?!  Although the sweet part is I don’t have to deal with organizing the shelves…I just gotta put ad signs up and pull the old ones off!  But do I really want to spend late nights at work…………………………….?

This weekend my Juli got me a video iPod!  Yea, I just became an iPod head.  Got me a hard-clear case case and an AV connection kit.  Total about $126.  Now I can watch videos on TV from my iPod.  It even comes with a remote control!

J-Town FOREVER!

February 10th, 2006 by asnxpunk

5 more days till my year at Target………..

On other news………..

If anyone didn’t hear, Japan Town is up for sale.  Most of you must be thinking, "don’t you mean some property of Japan Town?"  Nope, I mean practically almost ALL of J-Town.  Turns out a corporation owns about 3/4 of J-Town and selling it up for grabs and it could be sold to ANYONE or ANY other CORPORATION.  If this keeps up, J-Town will be like Manila Town: GONE.  If you never heard of Manila Town in SF, yeah, that’s how bad J-Town is gonna be in the future.

First week of school

January 21st, 2006 by asnxpunk

Ahh school has started and so means hell.

Taking Financial Accounting (2nd time around), Business Math, English 1B (my last English class, yes!), Health Science, and Running/Conditioning (meets SJSU requirements plus to get back in shape).

After this semester I am done with my GE’s (except for the one final gym class for SJSU).  I also found out I could transfer to SFSU or SJSU next semester.  Damn counselor didn’t tell me that!  I thought I had to finish the GE’s and lower division classes for Business Adminstration in order to transfer.  Instead, I only needed 60 transferable units.  Oh well, I gotta look at it in a brighter side: tuition is cheaper than CSUs.  If things go good (meaning, finishing my lower division courses), I can be out by next Spring.  But that’s if SFSU or SJSU lets me admit at Spring semester.  And to do so, I must take SUMMER SCHOOL!!!  AAAAHHHHH!!!!!!

And the grades are…!

January 8th, 2006 by asnxpunk

Got my final grades:

General Human Anatomy (ANAT 25): C

Principles of Microeconomics (Econ 3): C

University Read and Composition (English 1B): B

Trigonometry (Math 95): C

GPA: 2.23

Whew!  Finally passed micro econ!  Thought I was gonna get a B in trig….Knew the grades for anatomy and english cuz I looked it up at school.  Missed a B in anatomy by a whole test (mathematically speaking).  Got mostly B’s on my essays for english and esp my final 9 page research paper I got a B (worth about 20% of final grade)…without proof-reading!

2006

January 2nd, 2006 by asnxpunk

2006 is here!….Gonna be a looooong year…

Done some research on my school year and I might be able to transfer to SJSU or SFSU by next year…if classes go right that is (and if I want to take short calculus over there).  Still not sure about Berkeley cuz I need to take about 2 more classes to match their GEs plus short Cal (I think) and need an overall GPA of 3.8!  It’s that competitive there!

Midterm grades

November 3rd, 2005 by asnxpunk

Checked my midterm grades recently and here they are:

Anatomy:  C
Micro Econ:  C
English:  B
Trig:  B

Today had lab for anatomy.  Had to dissect a sheep’s eye and brain.  Damn, so much stuff to remember for the next lab exam!  Next week the is the lecture exam on spinal/cranial nerves and some other stuff I can’t remember!  Luckily this last exam we can have "cheat sheets."  The teacher gave us a card and we can put in as much info on that card and use it on the exam.

Been playing The Warriors on my PS2 and it’s still going great!  Played a bonus mission where we get to learn how the "heavy muscles" of the gang, Ajax and Snow, joined The Warriors.  Man, it was nothing but fighting esp the last part!  Both characters had to run away from 20 Destroyers (their main rivals).  HOWEVER!  They caught up and had to fight them….2 on 20!  I thought it should be nothing since I had some "Flash" (health packs) BUT it turns out more just keeps coming no matter how many I KOed.  It turns out I WAS suppose to just run to the checkpoint.  The good thing is I got out and finish two mini-bonus missions (which took place during the gang-bang) which is to KO 10 Destroyers then later 15.
